Easy Swaps to Cut Costs!

It’s no surprise that weddings are expensive! You quickly realize the expression, “Every penny counts”, has never been more applicable. Here are some easy swaps that will help you cut costs!

Flowers

This is where hiring a professional florist who have their clients needs as priority one, will shine through! Swap out the higher priced, possibly not in season blooms for something more cost effective. Greenery can be lush and help keep the budget lower. Tell your florist your spending limit and stick with it! They will have suggestions and ideas to keep that cost low, that’s why they are the professional!

Jewelry

It’s your wedding day and it only happens once, so GO BIG, right? Not if you have a budget you need to stick to. Swap out the diamonds for cubic zirconia. No one will notice! Or ask if anyone in your family, or one of your friends who have already gotten married, has any jewelry to loan you. It makes it more sentimental and let’s not forget about the main attraction- your dress! Jewelry and accessories are meant to enhance, but that doesn’t mean it needs to break the bank!

Shoes

Just like my jewelry advice, nobody will notice your shoes- unless they light up or are a feature themselves! Swapping designer shoes out in favor of something more cost-effective, and more comfortable, will help to keep the budget in check! Or again, ask some of your friends or family members who have gotten married if they have their shoes to loan. They probably haven’t worn them since their wedding day, and it can be your something borrowed!

Programs

You want to hear something frustrating? You spend time and money designing a program for your guests to possibly use during the ceremony, and then they toss it after you say, “I Do”. And when they use it, its usually only as a fan if it’s hot outside! If you want to have some details written for your guests, invest in a chalkboard or sign. Less money, cuter photos, and you didn’t have to kill any trees!

Champagne Toast

A champagne toast is a fun way to kick off your reception and cheers the happy couple! But buying champagne in bulk you quickly learn is expensive! Swap out the expensive champagne for prosecco. Prosecco is similar in taste, cost effective and your toast is only one glass- most guests won’t even notice.

Cake

Think back to the last wedding you attended. Does the look of the cake stick out to you? Did you even see them cut the cake? A large, grand scale cake will cost you hundreds of dollars. Cupcakes or small bite desserts will offer your guests a variety and cut out cake-cutting fees. If you want the traditional wedding cake, do a small tier cake for the cutting and have a sheet cake cut your guests.

Wedding Favors

Favors are one of those wedding details that you plan and purchase, and very few guests actually take them home. It’s not their fault! They were having so much fun dancing and celebrating you that they forgot to grab their wedding swag. Instead of spending time and money on favors, invest those funds or focus more on late night snacks! I think I can speak for most wedding guests when I say, I would appreciate late night food rather than a shot glass with your names and wedding date on it!
